In order to solve the influence of weather on the outdoor cultural performance in Dongfanghong Square, a staff theater was built in Jiayang Coal Mine in 1982, with a building area of 1100 square meters and a capacity of 1100 spectators. The main function of the theater is to show films and hold conferences, which enriches the cultural life of employees. The workers' theatrical performance held on holidays made the "miners' Spring Festival Gala" in Bajiaogou a success and interpreted the "youth story" of the miners. The theater once held the largest party joining oath activity attended by nearly 1000 people in the province.
